Issue 4
Our 4th Issue is what QCI Rec. has planned thus far for the summer. We have golfing lessons in Sandspit, walking clubs in Masset still in the works. And we never know what new program is around the corner. Enjoy!
After holding our breath throughout April and May we have finally exhaled as we have received our funding for our Summer Camps for 2009. We are very happy to have received even more funding to hold a camp in Sandspit this year.
The Summer Camp is called “Infusion” and it is sponsored through the Ministry of Education, Legacies 2010 and HRSDC (Human Resources and Skills Development Canada). We also pleased that we have returning teachers, Anna Zimmerman and Tiffany Lavoie, from last years Explorations camps. For more information please see our website under Registered Programs.

Hikes
For the months of July and August we are running regular hikes every Monday 11:00 am – 1:00 pm(except BC Day) for locals, families and tourists to participate and enjoy. Joining in on one of the QCI Rec. hikes will give you a guided tour with Queen Charlotte resident hiker, Marla Abbott, guaranteed to give you some great local stories for a laugh as well as plant and animal information.
Movies
For the July Movie we have the cartoon kid’s hit Monsters vs. Aliens and we still need a community club that would be interested in running the concession…give us a call if you are interested!
All our movies are not yet on home video release so you can be the first to see it
Queen Charlotte: Wednesday, July 15 at 6:30 pm
Masset: Friday, July 17 at 6:30 pm
Sandspit: Sunday, July 19 at 6:00 pm
All movies are $5.00 per person and children under 3 are FREE
First Aid
QCI Rec. is holding a couple privately booked First Aid classes this month. On July 10th 9:00 am – 6:00 pm we are running a Bronze Cross re certification course at Mount Moresby Adventure Camp.
On July 11th 9:00 am – 5:00 pm at the Port Clements Medical Clinic we are giving a Emergency First Aid with CPR level C course.

Art Classes
If you have artistic inclinations you have the opportunity to participate in Intermediate level Art Classes on the deck at Queen B’s. Paint using your favorite medium: watercolor, pastels or oils.
Dates are: Mon-July 28, Thurs-July 30, Mon-August 3, Tues-August 4, Thurs-August 6 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm.
If you are from Sandspit and you would like to take this class but the cost of the ferry makes it too expensive we have travel subsidies for you!
QCSS Weight Room Orientation
We have one orientation coming up quickly at QCSS School in Queen Charlotte, Wednesday, July 8th at 6:30pm. Show up and don’t be late! This is a Free service.
Wrestling and Kickboxing drop in classes
For the rest of the Summer there are children and adult Wrestling classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:00 – 8:00 and children and adult Kickboxing classes from 8:00 – 9:00 pm. Drop in is only $5.00 per class.
